I don't know if any of the news sites picked up on this but the dev made a post on the Steam forums not too long ago:

Hey guys, I know things have been a bit quiet here and folks have been wondering how Act 2 development is coming! We've been heads down working as hard as we can to get the rest of the game in your hands, but I wanted to pop in and let you know where things are!

We are currently in our final alpha development sprint for Shay’s half of Act 2. At the end of next week his section of Act 2 will be playable from start to finish with blocked animation! Then it’s off to the studio for another voice recording session while the team rolls on to developing Vella's half of Act 2.

We're currently hoping to wrap up Act 2 by the end of the year. I know that's later than most of you were hoping, but everything in this game is hand crafted and just takes time, and we want to make sure we deliver something that hits the quality bar we set with Act 1.

Until then, your patience is much appreciated! To help tide over the wait, here's a look at everyone's favorite hipster lumberjack's new Act 2 style:

So that sucks.

Worst part is this isn't even what people thought it was... they promised an "old-school" adventure, then delivered an iPhone game (well half so far)

Welcome to early access. Because if people are dumb enough to buy unfinished products, why the hell not?

I don't mind Early Access games, but if you're going to buy into them do the research on it first. See the pros and cons, etc.

The only Early Access game I've bought and regretted has been the Day Z standalone, and that was my own fault because I foolishly thought it'd be at least as good as the mod and then they'd build on that. Nope, all from the ground up again. Eventually it'll be good, so there's that, but I regret buying in so early.

only early access I bought (well, technically) was Timespinner from a KS backing, but that isn't on there yet but I probably wouldn't bother with EA.

Games like Nether get full release and they're....crap while stuff like super promising Starbound barely gets updates.

And I thought Tell Tale was slow with their episodic content!

I was just updating the board on the current state of this game. I wasn't inviting everyone to join in on a Early Access bash party. Mostly because Broken Age isn't even a freaking EA game. It's like you guys are so quick to regurgitate the same barf opinions you spew into every topic you didn't even stop to think if it applied here or not.

It's the closest modern game I can think of to the classic LucasArts games. It can be placed on the shelf right next to them as far as I'm concerned.

Stacking was good. A little different than your usual adventure game.
... even on Earth Mode.
