My wonderful corsair psu bit the dust last night so I'm scrambling for a replacement. This one seems decent but further input from anyone who's had an EVGA psu is always welcome.

Yep. JohnnyGuru reviewed the 500W model and were impressed with it.

EVGA are probably the best around when it comes to PSUs at the moment. One of their top end models got a perfect 10 last week.

It's fine for the price.
I don't know what your requirements are, but for $60, I'd consider http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-power-supply-capstone450 instead.
If you will actually apply for the mail-in rebate, there's no better unit around $40 these days.

Just need to power a 4770 non k and 7970 so 500-600 should be sufficient
