So I'm looking to build th pc itself for around the $400ish range. At least enough to run around medium settings give or take for something like dark souls. Anyways, I was wondering if I'd get better prices on newegg or going to frys electronics? Also, I'm debating between windows 7 or 8(.1). The only thing I really care about is that the gamesnon steam are compatible.

Good luck. You would need to up your budget by at least 200 more. Especially if you need an OS you can completely forget it.

400 was just for the components of the actual computer, not including OS, monitor, keyboard, etc.

He said to play at medium. That's not hard to do at $400.

Here's a quick $430 build that will play games at med without issue and certain games even better.

Okay....I wasn't asking if it CAN be done. I was wondering about newegg vs frys and which would be the better OS in terms of compatibility.

It's not a contest lol.

Thought it was impossible? Guess when you pull your head out of your ass and read what the TC wants you can actually provide actual advice. Good job.

There's two builds. Go to newegg and frus and compare prices of said parts. There's your answer.

8.1 IMO. (I run 7 but no sense upgrading but if I was buying new it would be 8.1)
