I can't use PhysX in games like Metro Redux and others with an AMD R9 270X gpu?

Can you still use a dedicated Physx card with AMD cards? Or could you never do that.

The Physx in Metro LL especially was awesome. You could walk through the fog/smoke/whatever, turn around and see the path you cleared through it before it slowly started forming again. I also like the destruction elements, chipping away at cover is satisfying.

Borderlands 2 had great Physx as well! No doubt.

I'd also like to point out Tressfx in TR alone doesn't kill my FPS too badly. What kills my FPS is the obvious developing for AMD hardware first and foremost.

Physx is great. Not many games use it, but it's pretty awesome in the ones that do.

I always liked using it when I had an nvidia card. Don't notice it's gone though now that I can't.

lol, buying a new GPU just for some dinky PhysX effects that are only used in a handful of games.

IIRC, you can, but it'll run off the CPU, which will hurt performance.
PhysX doesn't really seem to be such a hard thing to run anymore, tbh.

Having made the move from AMD to NVidia when last upgrading I would say that PhysX alone is not worth the change. It makes no substantial visual difference and where it does it can look unrealistic and unnatural sometimes ruining immersion. The one game I see it as being pretty and working with the art style is Borderlands 2 and even there I can take it or leave it, the game looks just as good without it.

If you think physics is worth it then it would be worth the wait till you need to upgrade. Buying a whole new GPU that is similar to the one that you already have makes no sense.

PhysX isn't worth choosing Nvidia over AMD.

One of the reasons I hate Nvidia. It's one thing to keep their tech to themselves, but in this case they're hindering an actual Nvidia card from using it
