When I ordered my pre built PC in 2010 I chose a gtx 460, and I noticed it was the Asus version. Also I'm now trying to upgrade to 760 - 780 neighborhood. Noticed 760 is a lot cheaper. Is there a big difference in between these. Just trying to get a card that is compatible.

No, it doesn't matter. You just need any video card that has a PCI Express x16 connector.

You can get any brand of the card. Just remember the X60's are mid range cards, thus they are cheaper. IF you want more power you gotta pay up. IF you were happy with you 460 over its lifetime, then youll probably be fine with a 760 too.

There are 3 requirements for your new GPU:

1. Your motherboard has a PCI-E 16x slot.
2. Your PSU has enough power and the right connections.
3. There is sufficient space in your case for the new GPU.

There is a very big difference between 760 and 780. Whether or not it's worth the extra money to you, however, is another matter.
Just look up reviews for the cards and compare gaming benchmark results.

Think it will be a 770. I noticed the 770 version is PCI express 3.0 while my 460 version is 2.0. Would that mean compatability issues? I think my motherboard has a PCI-E 16x slot anyways.

Putting a 3.0 card in a 2.0 slot will work. It may be a little bit slower (3.0 supports faster speeds) but 2.0 is still fast enough for it to be an upgrade.
