Someone could kick you in the crotch while you're wearing a headset and you'll never see it coming.
DorkLink said I could borrow his signature so I did (see below):

Unless you activate the front camera on the vive.

But yeah, you most likely are subject to external abuse :(

Oh, for sure, my friend has a vive and we screw with each other by giving a slight push whenever we're standing close to a ledge or something. It's pretty funny how seriously your brain thinks you're about to fall.

If you want a couple teeth knocked out f***ing with me in VR is a great way to make that happen.

That's why I'm streaming LoLz right now and why I have bought 9300 IP on two accounts so far. Because I don't play it. Makes perfect sense ~ Karmic Dragon

Even if you activated the camera and happened to have it on at the time, you'd have to be looking in the direction of the guy about to kick you... it would still be possible to sneak in a kick since the camera doesn't = your whole normal FOV.

Ahh yes, Channel 101... good times in the Early web days. I remember that and House of Cosby's (which is what eventually spawned Rick and Morty).

Anyway, I definitely don't mess with someone in VR because I know that's $800 strapped on their face and hands and they're more likely to fall and break something. So it's not really that funny and pretty stupid to do. But I guess if you were running one of those youtube channels where you hope your next video would go viral (and thus pay for the broken equipment) then yeah, go for it dude. But otherwise it's pretty damn stupid.

VR doesn't necessarily isolate you from all sounds. I have a pair of open headphones so if someone knocks at the door I can hear it. In fact the weird thing is that when someone makes a sound in game that sounds like a knock at the door I have to take off the headset and go look.

Yeah any good headphones (open cans) would let you hear people moving around pretty easily.

Still, it reminds me of that video of that weird guy who makes like 10 hour long videos of himself sitting while meditating (usually peeing his pants and such on camera). He got robbed in one of his videos while he was just sitting there smiling at the camera
