The most wanted games were NFS's best in the series. Most of the rest just blow severely.

Underground and Underground 2 and Most Wanteds are the best. NFS 1/2 are also really good, all the rest are bad.

I hope that I disagree with you when I play them.

Just keep practicing. Start at the simplest track and do it over and over again until you are sure you have the basics of drifting (keeping up the speed, turning effectively, not ramming into the sides) down, go for the more complicated ones. Experiment with starting to turn earlier or later, from inside or outside of the turn, try out normal brakes and handbrakes. You will eventually start "feeling it".
You have absolutely no right to complain about a decision you decided to support with your money. Be smart and vote with your wallets!

Aren't you supposed to keep the drift combo up in those? The tracks are short and full of curves so there's no need to worry about being faster than other racers since drifting does the work for you.

IMO the last decent one was The Run though still not great. The last one that was so good was Most Wanted back in 05. All the ones from last year 5ish years are not Need for Speed games. They are burnout games using the Need for Speed name and pretty crap ones at that.

Payback looks awesome though.
