So we're supposed to be OK with AMDs poor performance with Ryzen at first, before they got to optimizing software and games to run on it well. But we're supposed to s*** on Intel for the same thing?
This board sometimes...

...except Ryzen didn't perform poorly and narrowed the gap significantly. It was a huge jump for AMD from their last CPUs.

Skylake X has poor gaming performance, as it is slower than Broadwell, Skylake and Kaby Lake...Ryzen is 52% faster than the CPU's they replaced. Ryzen+ starting next year is where we can begin to judge if AMD's processors are disappointing or not. Despite hit pieces literally saying Ryzen sucked for gaming, no one said similar when the more expensive Skylake-X is slower clock for clock than the last THREE Intel CPU releases in games...lmao.

Still the best processor to buy if you're buying one today IMO... Yall Can *********************** if you have a different opinon, but it is pretty s***ty the promises intel made were lies.

Reminds me of their claim that the 7700K was going to have 15% higher IPC than 6700K when in reality it had less than 1% IPC gain and just boosted higher at stock and clocked higher with manual OC. The thing is at stock settings with no overclocking done, the 7700K boosts to 4.5ghz and the 8700K boosts to 4.7ghz on one core.

This is the 11% they speak of, but when you buy it this will clock lower than the 7700K which explains why it's no faster with manual overclocking in these leaks. The 50% gains is obviously stock multi threaded gains...but that again puts the 8700K MT performance on par with Ryzen 5. And it will have a mainstream flagship price and can't be used to drop in upgrade from KL.

That's probably an understatement. This should make intel stop being so s***ty at times. It did get them to finally start going with 6 cores standard. Now lets hop AMD can do the same magic with their GPUs against Nvidia so Nvidia can drop the Gsync recruitment for adaptive sync.

There was also a performance regression between Haswell and Skylake.

The Coffee Lake regression is probably due to adapting a new inter-core architecture.

It's probably optimization issues, give it some time.

Yea give the refresh time but smear and castigate the whole new design(Ryzen) then end up 52% faster than what it replaced. Lol. Game developers literally come forward and say they need time to optimize for Ryzen but "AMD Ryzen sucks for gaming" is the headline yet this s*** is a refresh where games are already tightly optimized for the tech(CL is ring bus not mesh).

Pricing:

Two platforms in one year, with another one just seven months away. Costs slightly more money too.
