Not sure if it runs better or what have you, but getting a freesync monitor is way cheaper than a gsync one.

I keep seeing this but after doing a quick search through PCpartpicker for 1440p 144/165 hz Freesync monitors that were 24 or 27 inches, the cheapest listed price was $400 which is what I paid for my equivalent G-sync monitor.

G-sync monitors aren't that much more expensive than a true Freesync equivalent(if they exist), they're just a lot more expensive than the cheapest Freesync monitor that hits the same res/refresh rate. I.E. Acer has a 27" 1440p/144Hz Freesync monitor that is $399(which I own, btw), but it's not the same as their 27" 1440p/144Hz G-sync monitor(which is hard to find under $700). They use different panels and have different features, and the G-Sync model is much more expensive. But it's more expensive because it's a better monitor, and then it gets the cost of G-Sync tacked on as well. It's not just the Freesync version plus the G-Sync module and then they tack on $250+.
