Gaming aside, how bad does VEGA curb-stomp the 1080ti at ethereum mining?

All I hear whenever someone tries to shame or downplay the VEGA is how massively better it is at computing over gaming, anyone got solid numbers yet?

It doesn't seem to be much better at all from what I've seen, and way lower when it comes to mh/w. Here it is at a few different undervolts compared to a 1070

http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/vega-64-hashrate-power.png

Apparently the liquid cooled version uses a lot more power but still tops out at around 35MH/s

Since they're new cards and the first consumer cards with the latest version of AMD's new compute units it's possible performance will go up as the software is optimized but I wouldn't expect it to double or anything. Maybe the MH/w ratio will get a bit closer but honestly I hope it doesn't.
Every time I try to go where I really wanna be it's already where I am, 'cuz I'm already there

AMD has released a new driver that improves mining for Vega 64 / 56:

https://hothardware.com/news/amd-radeon-rx-vega-mining-block-chain-ethereum

As you can see, the Vega 56 reached ABOVE the 1080ti and 1 MH/s above the Vega 64, which, for a $399 card... IS INSANE.

Expect the Vega 56 price go even higher after this news go out. Good luck.

Nope.

And the fact that they drink power means your electric bills are gonna go sky high.

You realize for mining you need to consider power draw because it eats into your profit.

V64 has a hash rate of ~32, it doesn't even come close to the 1080ti because of the power consumption

Can't even read the thread about the special driver that bumps 32 to 36 and that was without 1100MHz HBM Speed.
