Brand new Predator 17 today.
And before anyone asks the obvious questions:
I7-7700. GTX 1070. SSD.
No background apps. No added antivirus. Windows game mode and dvr off.
Maximum Performance Power setting.

Rise of Tomb Raider, on high, not max, can't keep a consistent 75fps why?!?
Forza Horizon 3, on high, not the ultra preset it determined for me. Again can't keep 75fps?
A GTX 1070 should handle both of these games fps in the 100s. But a 75hz laptop struggles?
What the hell is going on here?

Brand new laptop needs temps checked? Predator sense shows neither gpu or CPU leaving the mid 70s in game.

I'm done trying to figure this thing out tonight. Hopefully when I wake up, this topic will be filled with plenty of ideas or someone who experienced and figured this out before. Thanks.

Brand New you say... Call the Manufacturer. I am sure they would like to address this themselves, and not let the interwebs get wind of what might be a popular problem soon.
If what I said doesn't makes sense... it's because you don't want it to make sense.

This laptop has the 7700hq at 2,8ghz, so about 40% or so weaker than the 7700k. I say it might be a cpu bottleneck in the above mentioned games, because the are optimized pretty poorly in that regard.

Runs at 3.4ghz 99.9% unlesd they botched the cooling. Still nowhere near the 7700k. Thst would be a properly cooled 7820hk.

I dont believe you tc. Anyways, you dont even check whats holding you back. Monitor clockspeeds, % utilization, temps and limits for both GPU and CPU. Find the culprit and either fix it or live with it.
