DisplayPort is better but if you do use HDMI make sure you set the color scale to full range

Also let me clarify technically DisplayPort is better but you won't notice a difference they're both still digital signals

Without speakers there is no difference.

The only reason I'd say Displayport is better is because it's a newer standard and they're already trying to push HDMI out the door. Also the plugs have a self-locking mechanism to prevent them being accidentally pulled out (though I've never had an HDMI cable get yanked out by accident).

ANNND I guess that AMD pushed for the new displayport standard to support freesync, so instead of requiring a chip in the monitor to regulate the refresh rate, the computer sends a sync signal through displayport... or something like that.

Oh and HDMI has royalties involved (like Prince Harry?... no wait, money... it's money) where Displayport is royalty free...

Thanks to the fact that video cards are coming out with more display port ports than HDMI, I had to use a mini displayport to displayport cable from my HTC Vive to my computer.

DisplayPort is better in every way as far as I know. There's no benefit to HDMI over it, and there are many downsides to HDMI over DisplayPort if it's not HDMI 2.0 or what ever they call that new one. And even the new one has no benefit over DisplayPort that I know of
