......why has no one mentioned Metal Gear Solid V?

Because you can mow down a lot of bases by yourself.

Well, he did say "feature," not "require." It's pretty clear that the game focuses on and rewards stealth, but doesn't make it totally necessary for those that don't like it.

Edit - Just kidding, he said "require" in the OP. Still, MGSV can be readily played utilizing stealth exclusively.

I grew up playing MGS1...

I don't know why the hell anyone would go into an MGS game with guns blazing. I mean if you want you could drive a tank straight into a base...but still.

Hitman, as the name implies, requires you to kill specific targets.

But you can go about engineering their deaths with stealth and guile as opposed to taking the guns blazing route.

Alien Isolation comes to mind

Seconded. Play in the dark with headphones if you can.

Or roleplay a blind person and play with only headphones.

Wow, this is quite a list!
I'll get around to them all, but Alien Isolation sounds like I need to play it first!
Thanks for the recommends, everyone

Edit-
Yes,I've played the Thief games. They're the ones that wrecked my view of all other games that feature killing everything.
I like using my mind and a level of stress to get through a game.
Thanks!

Oh and when you play isolation, don't bother stealthing for the first part. You'll know when it's time to hide from the Alien, no point in crouch walking super slowly for no reason before then.
Reality is so flexible these days, its hard to tell whos disconnected from it and who isnt. You might even say its a pointless distinction.

The Styx games are pretty decent stealth games. There's combat but it's only there in case of emergency -- you're f***ed if you try to play through the game with all combat.
