Was my post invisible?

No, just irrelevant. it doesnt matter WHY you need 170GB free, the point is you need 170GB free. Knowing that its because the thing will DL a compressed archive and then decompress it changes nothing.

I refuse to buy games that require such ridiculous amounts of hard drive space. There is no reason for it. I doubt I'm missing anything not playing this anyway.

I bet you said the same thing when games went from 5 - 10 GB to 50 GB.

Wasn't getting it anyway.

Games have to get bigger eventually, it's just how it is. I just wish it was out of necessity and not just developers being f***ing lazy.

It's almost like every single game requirement page that has ever existed has the wrong HDD space because it accounts for extracting. Hmmm....nope, of course not.

half of that is probably the jäp language settings like it was with FF13

This one comes with German and French as well.
I used to have a good signature, then I got modded for it.
Now I shall try to think of something edgier to put here.

Lots of confusion in this topic.

The download isn't 160+GB, that's the needed HDD space. Downloads like this come in compressed and then uncompress on first run.

You need 160GB to hold the compressed and uncompressed files at the same time, almost every game will tell you it needs more more HDD space than it actually needs.

Compression has worked this way forever; you can't unzip a 100GB file if you only have 40GB free on a 140GB HDD for example, just because you can download the installer doesn't mean you will have the space to install it.

How dare you bring common sense to gfaqs! Don't you know we just pull theories out of our asses and regurgitate them as fact without any real idea of how things work?

Uncompressed multichannel FMV cutscenes dubbed in multiple languages.

This. Lest we remember FFX/X-2 HD is 34~ GB when the games themselves might break 10 GB.
