smh I thought this said Fear remake coming to PC and I was confused and then excited and now I'm really disappointed

To be fair Fear isn't dated enough to warrant a remake unless they want to reboot the series. Fear Effect and System Shock a remaster won't cut it.

The original Fear Effect was ahead of it's time. Edgy and interesting characters with a very well thought out plot. Nothing else like it to this day that I have played. The third one was going to go all out, but it was cancelled:( I sure hope this sells well and a third game is made or even a remake of the second game. beat the first and 2nd game multiple times.

I am a bit disappointed that the teaser trailer graphics don't look up today's standards. I can imagine Fear Effect looking way better with today's graphics. It is just a teaser trailer and probably not even in game graphics, so it doesn't mean that much right now. Day 1 buy no matter what though

Never played it; looked like some Resident Evil clone with same tank controls. Didn't it have, like, three discs? goddam...

Yep, I remember it had four disc when my friend used to own it. Both games were 4 disc in fact.

Yes.

Fear Effect has TONS of cutscenes. Not only that, but the backgrounds were short movie files looping endlessly, instead of the still images from the Resident Evil series. Because of this, the game filled up 4 CDs, and it's not even a long game!

Still, I always find it amazing. It seems like a Resident Evil game at it's core, but has many unique features to make it worthwhile. It's gritty, VERY violent, has a VERY interesting story and some creative puzzles here and there. Oh, and a challenge that will make some gamers give up halfway though.

Four discs (and that for the finale, you had to switch back to a previous disc).
Used tank controls, but aside from that, had a number of elements the RE games back then wish they had:

- Crouch and roll functions (to dodge enemy gunfire and enemy melee attacks).
- Melee stealth kill options (someone's back turned, switch to your character's melee attack to one-shot em).
- Target and hit indicator (weirdly, the confirmation that your gunfire will hit more consistently and do more damage was at the TOP of the screen). Crouching while shooting ups your accuracy and lets you do more damage against enemies of all types.
- (arguable) Better story, or at least one that wouldn't be outside the realm of the more edgy anime movies of the early-mid 90s.
- LOTS of challenging puzzles, and LOTS, not just 'solve the soup cans' type of stuff half the time, most are obstacle/timing based where one wrong move would either get you hurt or insta-kill you, along with LOTS of graphic death scenes to compliment. If people are at home with the Souls games (or Crash Bandicoot, lol), they'd be... okay with seeing GAME OVER in at least 5 creative scenes depending on where you died a LOT of times.
- TOWEL.
