I'm using ReFS and this explains why OneDrive randomly claims it needs NTFS with a non-closeable dialog box (which can be ignored with no ill effect).

I really hope people cause a storm over this. There is no excuse for removing features. Moreover the features already exist and it's just rock bottom stupid Microsoft has these tiers of prices for the OS for x amount of processors and such. Artificial limitations are just stupid.

MS deserves to be skewered for this. In fact, people who bought Windows 10 Pro while ReFS volumes could be created should get a class action lawsuit targeting MS over this.

This is just so incredibly rock bottom stupid it's unbelievable. Leaving old NTFS without any checksums or other obvious modern features is incredibly stupid. There is zero reason a reliable file system should be arbitrarily kept from end users. Disgusting.

How could anyone honestly defend the removal of an existing feature only to resell it? I mean I understand people think some arguments vs. Microsoft are overboard, but this is pretty cut and dry a scummy move.

If it was listed as an advertised feature when people bought it, MS needs legal action taken against them for it's removal. If it wasn't an advertised feature then that's another story entirely. I seem to remember it being in beta but I could've missed an official release.
Reality is so flexible these days, its hard to tell whos disconnected from it and who isnt. You might even say its a pointless distinction.

And this is why Linux is gaining market share while Windows is getting rightfully f***ed.

Just you wait, a year or so from now they'll likely remove the ability to disable windows update from all versions aside from the most expensive variety, and then proceed to release an update that makes everyone pay a monthly fee just to use Windows.

This is why, the moment my current Windows 7 install bites the dust, Linux is getting installed permanently on my PC. Wine has better backwards compatibility than Windows 10 ever will, and standardized APIs are making newer games much more likely to work on Linux reasonably well, especially with x64 APIs being worked on diligently by the Wine devs, not to mention that DX11 progress is being made.

Will it suck not having access to the latest games? Yes, but at least Linux doesn't get crippled by a greedy parent company just to make more money and screw over the consumer more and more. Hell, with Wine, it actually runs old games better than Windows 7 in some cases, due to the APIs being simulated much better.
