Call me when a midrange GPU can do 165 frames on 1440p max on 2017 AAA games. Because my 1080 currently can.

Since I'm still stuck in 2004, anything over 150 going to 250 is high end.

The GeForce 970 is still a enthusiast card capable of driving 100+ frames per second in new games at the perfectly acceptable average resolution of 1920, 1080.

From a technical standpoint yes, the 1080 is a midrange-GPU. But from the price, relative performance and position in the market point of view it's a lower highendgpu. It's still the 2nd(if you count 1080ti and Titan X as the same GPU)/3rd fastest GPU on the market.

RX 470, but I play games at 1080p/60fps so the argument is completely irrelevant. I refuse to buy a GPU that costs over $300.

Note: My intention was to do RX 470 Crossfire, but I'm not buying another RX 4xx or 5xx card until they're at MSRP again.

If you want to argue, basically every other component in my system is better than yours. Such trite oneupmanship is pointless.

I feel it's more of an individual way of looking at it, a 1080 to some is high-end because of the price. To someone rich even a 1080ti could be low-end because they could get a quadro which is like $5000.

Really who cares what range the card is. How does it perform for the price you're paying.

It's obvious you didn't watch the video. The prices are abitrary. Nvidia could have released the 1060 at $500 and people on here would still be calling it high end.

A 1050 Ti or 1060 3GB are what I'd called "Mid-Range." The 1080, the 2nd best GPU currently on the market, is still firmly in the "High-End" for most people.
