Pretty sure my motherboard is toast after 4 years, just going to test it a little more to be sure. What's a good CPU+Mobo to replace it with? I haven't kept up with prices and performance, it might just be worth it to keep my CPU and just replace the motherboard if the performance difference isn't going to be a whole lot.

Honestly you might be best doing a CPU mobo combo. But if you do get a new mobo and if you are going intel, go for the 300 series boards. I know you need the 300 series for the new CPUs, but not sure if you could use your old one in the new boards.

I'd just replace the motherboard

New mobo and CPU will require you to get DDR4 too

I was considering that, but given that my current motherboard is now $10 more than when I bought it 4 years ago (and similar motherboards are still quite pricey), I'm thinking I may as well upgrade if I'm going to be spending the money.

I seem pretty spoiled for choice if I do decide to upgrade. I can't even tell if it's worth going for the 7700k given the relative price and performance of the 1600/X and 1700/X. How many pcie lanes do those all have?

At this point in time you'd want the best Ryzen you can afford. Intel's offerings aren't going to hold up for newer game engines the same way.

I decided on the 1700X after confirming that my motherboard is indeed toast. How much do you think I could get for a 4770k and 4x4GB DDR3?

The 4770k I imagine you should be able to sell quite easily for a decent amount (here in aus, they would go for $250AUD+ easily) as it's still a solid CPU. The RAM though I doubt you'd get much for.
