The people that were recommending not getting i7 were mostly i5 users that wanted to convince themselves they didn't settle for an inferior gaming CPU

And yet those same people are recommending the 7700k now while trashing Ryzen.

Unless you're telling me that there were more i7 users than i5 this entire time, and they're suddenly loud enough to drown out the latter group? No one has been recommending to buy i5s ever since Ryzen released.

I want to know why this crusade to get everyone on an i7 started once AMD released their tech.

The best part are the people gaming at 1440p/4K who bash Ryzen, yet don't realize that an i7 makes no difference at those resolutions in comparison.

for sli builds you lose out on some performance at 1440p going ryzen over i7 in certain titles. Might have to do with the lack of PCIE lanes.

I know for a fact that on Witcher 3 you gain a 15 fps boost going x16/x16 configuration over x8/x8 @ similar clock speeds.

Since ryzen doesn't have the clock speed advantage the x16/x16 that enthusiast i7/i9 chips offer absolutely demolishes its x8/x8 configuration. I only reiterate the clock speed part because I know a 7700k overclocked a decent amount will make the x16/x16 advantage that other chips have null because of its powerful single core performance.
