Good thing I got 32GB

And I paid $150 for it, too.

You can run 99% of games with 8 and 16 is just a luxury so you can have your 30 porn tabs open while playing pubg

Firefox has been creeping up to 4-5GB on me of late, and if I keep Chrome up so that I can make and receive phone calls I can expect that to creep up to 2-3GB by itself as well. Path of Exile can take upwards of 4-5GB, Grim Dawn with a stash manager can do about the same, and if I want to go mining in EVE Online while playing another game then the EVE client will tack on its own gigabyte or two of RAM.

Zero porn, zero bar games, pushing uncomfortably close to 16GB.

This guys gets it. 32GB all the way.

All these poor people running around with 16GB, other poorer peasants running around screaming 8GB is enough. disgusting behavior.

Eh, my PC is now 6 years old and only has 8GB RAM... I still run every game at high settings (at 1080p) lol. Not worth several hundred dollars for me to upgrade my GPU and RAM just for a marginal gain in frame-rate or graphical settings. I'll prob wait till 4K is much more practical before I upgrade at this point, then build from scratch again, and fill it right full with RAM!!!

To be fair, most people aren't running browsers with dozens of tabs open and multiple games at the same time, that's an edge case. Granted, I do think if you're doing a new build it would be foolish to go for less than 16, but in my experience you absolutely do not NEED 16GB yet, unless, you insist on running multiple games etc. but most people typically just run the a single game/application, maybe a browser with a few tabs and Skype/Discord etc. in which case 8 is fine for now.

On the issue with ram...
...it seems to depend quite a bit on what OS you're using.

I was rather surprised when I learned that Batman AK ran fine on 8 with Win8, but it required 12 with Win10.

Since Forza was mentioned as requiring 12 (and Forza is a Window store exclusive iirc on PC)... I wonder if the extra 4gb has to do with Win10 more than the games.

i got lucky and got mine while it was cheap before that warehouse incident. sitting at 24GB. odd number, but it's just enough that i won't have to upgrade if the demand does ever get to 16GB.

The odd stutter aside, it runs just fine for me on 8GB with Windows 10 (and I've seen people with 16-32GB saying they still get stutters, so the issues with the port still haven't been completely rectified), I don't know where all this "you need 12+!" talk comes from, but it's probably the same people who run a browser in the background with plenty of active tabs while gaming. Also, I disabled all the "GameWorks" effects, as they hit my framerate pretty hard without providing a commensurate increase in image quality (IMO), so I'm not "maxing out" the game.

12gb for Win10 came from Rocksteady / WB.
If you got it to run well (or well enough for your liking) on Win10 with 8gb, congrats.
