Step up only works if you're buying a reference model card and the only card you can step up to is the Black model last time I checked which is still on a reference PCB. My card doesn't sag at all as far as I can tell and the white LED looks perfectly white to me as I'm looking at it while typing this.

True enough but I really don't see Volta dropping in the next 90 days.

I've never actually upgraded my GPU before, is there anything I need to worry about?

980 ti to 1080 ti didn't require new drivers for me and it's the same architecture jump.
