Does ryzen measure well against the i5

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RMbYe4X2LI

Overall Ryzen 1600 is much more solid investment now and in the future as well. Intel i5 are dead in the water and only prosessor i would consider from intel would be the i7 7700k.
Pc: i7 6700k/980 ti/16gb ram and Ps4.

Also 1600 seems a bit much for me, would a 1300x be a ok substitute?

How is it bit too much for you? Cost?

Getting a 1300x is like going backwards after your i5 3570k, so it would not be a upgrade at all.

Ya if you want to delid. 6700k if you don't want to delid. Actually since your board is dead TC I would go for a 300 series board and get that 8600k I think it is. I know its a 8000 series. The one with the 6 cores. But if on a budget certainly get the Ryzen 1600 since you can upgrade the CPU and use the same board. Unlike intel.

You need new prosessor, ddr4 ram, case and a new mobo since your other parts seems to be ok:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p2xwbj

These parts are well under 600 dollars.

You can add more parts to this too, but i picked a fancy case and a really good Asus b350 mobo for you.
