Does ryzen measure well against the i5

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RMbYe4X2LI

Overall Ryzen 1600 is much more solid investment now and in the future as well. Intel i5 are dead in the water and only prosessor i would consider from intel would be the i7 7700k.

Ya if you want to delid. 6700k if you don't want to delid. Actually since your board is dead TC I would go for a 300 series board and get that 8600k I think it is. I know its a 8000 series. The one with the 6 cores.

how much is that?

The CPU is like $300-$400. But its gonna last you a long time. GPUs are really the components to get dated the quickest. Not so much CPUs. But obviously you are on a budget so get the Ryzen 1600. Plus the board will be compatible with future Ryzen CPUs.

You can bet the new Intel prosessors are way overprices at launch.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kRVc8K

This Ryzen 1600 build is $592.05 in total, but you can go under 600 dollars no problem.

Just add the parts from your last computer and you are good to go.
Pc: i7 6700k/980 ti/16gb ram and Ps4.

Won't go down in price for quite some time too. Thank goodness CPUs last.

Picked out different memory:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vDz7QV

Total: $600.29

Now it little over 600 dollars, but you can bet it would be a pretty sweet build in the end.
