So for the last few months I've always closed the lid and it would go to sleep. When I open the lid it would wake right up. Now all of a sudden it won't wake up when I open the lid. I have to hit the power button and then the laptops logo appears and it takes slightly longer to wake up. No settings have been changed. Is this windows 10 just changing settings without me telling it too in an update or something?

Perhaps whatever button/switch/whatever the lid is supposed to activate on opening doesn't work now. It's somewhat common thing to happen.

But that wouldn't explain why it's waking up differently. Before it would wake up immediately. Now it almost looks like the laptop is off and it's booting back up. I see the manufacturers logo. So it looks like my PC was shut off but when it wakes up everything is where I left off. Almost feels like hibernate mode, I think? I've checked and I didn't see anything. Power options say it will go to sleep when the lid is closed.

Check your power settings and see how it's set up. Your laptop may be set now to go to sleep mode for x number of minutes and then turn off or go to hibernation after that.

If it used to work one way and now it works differently then there's a chance that it got changed in an update because Microsoft knows what's good for you. Alternately it's possible that it was always set up that way and you're just now finding it out.

Either way, check the power options. Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\whatever plan you're on\change advanced power settings

I used to have it in sleep for hours all the time and it would l wake up immediately when I open the lid. Now it doesn't. So something definitely changed. I check the power options when the lid is closed Everything is set to sleep. Hibernate box is unchecked. Maybe microsoft changed something. I don't see why though.

Ok it's definitely going into hibernation mode. I noticed the light on the side turn off. Normally when it went to sleep the light would flash. WTF is wrong with this laptop? No settings have been changed so I don't understand why it's going into hibernation. I don't even have the box checked for hibernation.

Check for "hybrid sleep".

Also do you keep your laptop plugged in? Maybe it changes when it's unplugged to save battery power?

I was able to fix it. It's not under any setting. You have to turn it off in the command prompt. Stupid microsoft changing my s*** without my permission.
