EA tends to kill companies they buy. To much corporate BS.

Bit of both. The creative minds within BioWare moved on to other things and EA got involved.

Mass Effect 3 was an amazing game until the last 20 or so minutes IMO. As for the question, I think it was probably around 70% of EA interference and 30% of BioWare just self-destructing.

I was definitely into Bioware games up until Mass Effect 2, but it was already a common joke by then that every Bioware game is the same thing in a slightly different setting or with slightly different controls, and they were already getting a bit heavy-handed with some of their character writing. We'll never know now but I have a feeling EA acquired Bioware at a time when their star was already about to fade independently of any outside intervention.

Bioware's only good games were BG1 and 2.
... even on Earth Mode.

This is dumb. Bioware was ruined before those games came out. DA:O was a shell of a game wrapped in meaningless lore with dlc as the first side quest.

DA:O is one of my favourite games personally.

BioWare stopped being good before EA bought them.

Honestly yeah.
In general their games were poorly optimised and all followed the same structure of
Tutorial area for hours -> Story dictates you need to find 3 things -> Go to three different areas in whichever order to find them -> Unlock final dungeon area point of no return -> Kill final boss and win.3

KotOT, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and more all followed this same formula.

The benefit of EA coming on board was their games ran a *lot* better. ME1 was jank as heck and back then I was a bit more accomodating of slow texture popup and fluctuating framerates, but it wouldn't cut it these days. ME2 ended up being my fave because it had, IMO, the best story and the absolute best finale in the game. I wish they'd have made the reaper's base the end area so the story could have wrapped up there instead.

EA have done some good for Bioware in general, but on the whole we'll look back and see Bioware as yet another company EA bought for their IPs then slowly discarded as they failed to meet expectations (due to EA's own meddling and poor management structure).

bioware ruined it for themselves when they stopped being a PC developer and got into MS' pocket which probably set the stage for their EA takeover.

started with the "intentionally" delayed version of kotor, then the exclusive version of jade empire(PC port was 3 years later) and finally mass effect(PC port a year later).

don't really feel sorry for them in the slightest since their first misstep ages ago.
