256MB of ram

In 97? You sure it wasn't 32/64?

My first PC had 256MB of RAM...in 2004. In '97 that would be some sort of massive server you'd be operating.

It could have been. This was 20 years ago.

I might be thinking of what was in my PC in 2004

We were cool with having Star Fox running in the 20s

Starfox averaged 12-14 FPS or so.

And we were in awe of every frame lol

Oh yeah, I remember playing it at the SNES station in the electronics department of our local Wal-Mart (along with DKC, Street Fighter 2) back in the day and being in awe. I wanted a SNES/Genesis so bad, lol. We had an NES and I would occasionally play SNES/Genesis at friends' houses. But hey, I got to play games like "X-Wing" that would have been impossible on the consoles, and the best version of Doom.

Yeah, unless you were running a high-end workstation/server, it's highly unlikely you had 256MB of RAM in 97.
