Depending on IPC, these could be quite competitive alternatives to AMD's Ryzen lineup. I would say, of the lot, 8700 or 8400, or 8100 are the ones to watch. Maybe 8350k for an ultimate emulation/cstrike build, but otherwise, the 65w budget chips are a much better deal, much like with Ryzen.

How, unless you got it from some where that stole it or are part of some kind of affiliate program like retail edge or got it used

The part that I find f***ed up is the need for a new motherboard and then another for the 9700k(I'm assuming that's what it will be called but with how people name stuff now it might be the X700K)

Got it brand new through a friend. He went with Ryzen instead.

I remember paying $330 for my I7 980. That said, $360 is rather high. This thing had better be amazing.

I mean, it's basically just an entry level E-socket i7 for a consumer chipset... Those even cost about the same iirc.

I bet Ryzen prosessors will still be the prize/performance kings after Coffee lake comes out, because looking at the Intel prices, Coffee lake prosessors will be very expensive indeed.

I bought my 4770K from Microcenter for $200 less than three months after it released. When I went in to pick it up, I asked if it was some sort of mistake. I was told they do it somewhat routinely to try and get people to buy other things. It worked in my case. Ended up buying a mobo as well. If they do that for the 8700K, I'll probably pull the trigger and upgrade the CPU, mobo and RAM.
