I'm new to building pcs build my first one last year. Now I'm very interested in this 8700k due to its 6 cores. Now I'm confused, is it coming out to pc builders on October 5th or will it only be in prebuild pcs and we have to wait on motherboard z370 to come out in 2018. How is this release Gona work?!? This is the first time I've ever considered buying a cpu at launch so excuse my ignorance.
Intel I7 7700k 4.8ghz 16gb RAM DDR4 3000mhz ,GTX 1080 ti, gigabyte z270 MOBO, Corsair 540. Gaming at 1440p 144hz is just amazing!!! PC MASTER RACE!

I assumed it was generally available as it has individual set prices. Although it 100% requires the new motherboard. So kinda moot for the time being

I respect your decision to upgrade and it's your money, but dam your current rig is still really good. I'll be upgrading from a Sandy bridge so I'm really in need of a upgrade, I've gotten my money worth out of it too.

I'd hesitate to go from a 7700k to an 8700k but hey, you do you.
I can be patient, but I'm not waiting!

They claim a 25% increase in gaming over the 7700K we'll see. If that's true and they fix the TIM issues I might actually sell my 7700K/Z270 for the new 8700K setup.

That seems extremely optimistic/highly situational. I'm betting 10-15% in CPU bound games/situations at best.
