What would be the immediate benefits of the 8GB 1070 vs 6GB 1060 on a 1080p display?

It will last a lot longer, than a gtx 1060 6gb would and you can max out settings with much higher framerates.
Pc: i7 6700k/980 ti/16gb ram and Ps4.

i would go with i7-8700k + GTX 1060 6G + 16G ram.

That would not make it a balanced build at all with that gpu and a overpriced cpu.

The idea is that CPU will last you forever.

This. I wish I'd gone with a stronger CPU off the bat, but it still comes down to personal choice in the end.

760T is a garbage case and way overkill for your build... Pretty stupid decision imho when you could have gotten a S340 or something and bought a 1070 with the money saved. But you know idiots come here daily asking for help and opinions and still buy whatever they want regardless.

Its for new buyers. Might as well get the 6 core one. Some games are starting to really utilize 6+ cores.

Well ya the final choice should be the buyer. People helping out should only guide them, they should make the final decision themselves. Good luck finding a 1070 at retail. Might as well spend a little more and just get a 1080 and be done with it. I do enjoy maxing pretty much everything though at 1080/60fps.

This and only this, the Ryzen 1600X is another valid option but with the 8600K beating it by 25fps in some games I'd take the Intel.

I know, but we’re talking 1080p here. Are games really that demanding on PC that the 1060 won’t be enough?
all of my posts are my own opinion

Actually this unimpressive looking cpu cooler slightly beats out the Cryorig h7 cpu cooler in performance and it is also semi-passive one:

But for overclocking the 8600k, i would pick even more massive cpu cooler for it.
