Mine has three. It still gets around 90c on the regular. :(

With the arrival of MaxQ GPUs to laptops, thermal management is starting to get better. Sadly, the current prices for these laptops are still silly high.

Well my g74sx runs cool and quiet. So I'd say gaming laptops have gone backwards.

Nope.
90c is usual for laptops.
Just make sure your air vents aren't blocked and you will be fine.
Had mine for a year and never had any problems.
I do see your concern though. I was concerned too when I played rise of the tomb raider on high settings.

Probably not. As you get better cooling, people will clock stuff higher and use more power.
