Not to be "That guy" but this is +1 reason why Youtube red is lovely. No ads, anywhere, ever. Even on mobile devices, Chromecasts, FireTV....never.

It's a great bonus to have along side the Play Music sub.

Pay for internet videos? I think not!

check your ublock-origin filter setting..

I just tested it's.. Still no ads on YouTube vids..

Played around with the settings some, couldn't figure it out. Even made a previous topic on what settings people use; got nothing that solved my issues.

Hasn't it always been video ads? That's what I've been accustomed to, I usually just skip them after the 5 seconds if it doesn't interest me.

Although sometimes I'll let it play out if it's like 6-15 seconds long.

Creators can have video or just like those little banners that pop up. I rarely see the banners. Probably doesn't give much.

Either way, if you seriously just don't care and want ads gone use uBlock Origin
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm

That or Enhancer for YouTube™
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/enhancer-for-youtube/ponfpcnoihfmfllpaingbgckeeldkhle

uBlock Origin should block out the ads just fine but Enhancer for YouTube™ is another option. It had added ad removal awhile back. You can even whitelist specific channels if you want. So, it won't remove ads when your watching your favorite youtubers so you can still show support.

Edit: One thing to note with whitelisting channels. It's case sensitive. Has to be exact. Also, you'll have to update your whitelist if they change names since it's solely going by their YouTube name and not like their url. I ran into this twice (name change), so figured I'd share.

Only at one point a month or two back did youtube ads come back with ublock origin. A filter which no longer is needed removed the ads no problem.

If you want to try it, it's youtube.com##.ad-interrupting .video-stream.html5-main-video

Again, it's not needed anymore as I just watched a dozen youtube videos on my Surface Pro without any ads with just unblock origin on Chrome but it's something you can try.

Not just with ads, but in general this ridiculous auto-play "feature" needs to go away.

Maybe your adblocker isn't working? Switch?

The future is in Native ads, though. Can't really adblock those.

Native ads? You mean like back in the '60s and '70s when Johnny Carson would hold up a product and shill it at the end of his monologue?

You have to shut that off using the browser. Google the details, in FF its in about:config. Similar in chrome to shut that off.

Scriptblock and AB+ on FireFox are doing a pretty good job. I've seen an ad or two get through, but I just right click and blocked them and it worked fine.

Well at least that's an option then, thanks.
