lol

my 290x sparked and died a day before the warranty expired.

was sad to see her go because she was great, got a rog matrix tho in exchange.

Talk about lucky.

The timing couldn't have been better

Really. When I worked retail, it was always priceless seeing the people that came in anywhere from a day or 2, too month after the warranty expired. Even more so for the ones that paid for the extended.

Usually was pleading against policy or leaving the store flaming mad. A lot were spoiled from Costco, or stories they hear from a Apple Store.

What card do you know of that has a shorter than 3 year warranty, or a longer than 3 year you don't have to pay for?

doesn't it depend on the operating temperature of the GPUs? what temps were your cards running at?

You must be a wizard considering the R9 290 has only been out 4 years

I only get extended warranties on pretty much devices I man handle a lot. So headsets, controllers (this one is a biggy), and etc.

Update: They're sending me a 1080 because they no longer produce my 980ti model. Definitely worth the hassle to RMA

in the EU:
zotac has 5y in case of registration, 2 y without
all but evga, asus, xfx, gainward have 2y
msi < 3y starting from production date
sapphire has 2y in older cards 300 and lower
xfx has 5 years on fans
some can be RMAed only through merchant, some through merchant+manufacturer if mercant denies

glad i could be of help
the above with 3y warranty allow overvolting, cooler swap, OC too (even vbios flash in powercolor's case)
The bigger the lie, the more they believe
