I have 16gb DDR3 ram
"CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 199.99
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113435

Motherboard: ASRock AB350M Pro4 AM4 74.99
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157762

ATX Mid Tower Case 34.98
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353081

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 95.99
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232085
"
Was what I was recommended.

I bought the case.

I was wondering if I should wait for black Friday/cyber Monday?

If I have an AMD A8 5500 APU with 3.2ghz would the Ryzen 5 really be that much of an upgrade?

I am generally following this guide someone very kind made me.

Sorry for so many questions too

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/AMD-Ryzen-5-Ryzen™-5-1600-vs-AMD-A8-5500

Said they were about the same other than one being hexa and having more threads. But most modern games don't use more than two cores anyways I read somewhere.

I am going to reply as though this is not a troll post, although it looks like one.

Probably.

Absolutely, yes. Ryzen 5 will blow your A8 out of the water. It's not even a contest.
However you will want faster RAM than what you linked. Ryzen really benefits from faster RAM.

Also, cpuboss is a trash website.

Finally, GTX 1080 is overkill for 1080p gaming, unless you have a high refresh rate monitor. Even then, a GTX 1070 should be fine.

What ram would you recommend and would you recommend upgrading my cpu or my ram first.
Also sorry to sound like a noon but how is the ryzen better? Is it the number of threads?
I have a 144hz asus
I already got my 1080 from mass drop for the same price about that a 1070 costs I think.

Ign had the deal. It comes with destiny 2. I also donated 500 dollars to game changer so less fortunate people can game

Nvm, I saw this
Big question is would 16gb ddr3 be comparable to the 8gb ddr4 or at least hold me off until next paycheck?

It's not an either/or deal. You have to upgrade both at the same time.
Ryzen is not compatible with DDR3. A8 5500 is not compatible with DDR4.
You wouldn't even be able to fit the RAM stick in the slot on the motherboard.

You want 2933 MHz at least.

It looks ok. I don't see anything wrong with it. Anyway it has a good rating on Newegg.

Oh gee I just noticed the RAM you linked is also a single stick. For Ryzen you really want a dual channel kit.

Technically speaking, for DDR4 anything faster than 2133 MHz is overclocking. It's fine though if the RAM is made to run that fast. Just make sure you get a kit that is specifically Ryzen compatible. Some of them have problems with Ryzen.
