I believe they sold a F2P (pay to win) multiplayer game at full retail price.

I almost find it hard to believe given its EA, but I got a feeling its Disney more than EA.

You are correct Disney is a monster compared to EA. If Disney say jump EA say how high.

EA is being investigated for violating gambling laws in the EU. That is the only reason they have temporarily removed the loot boxes. This has nothing to do with backlash from customers. Once the investigation is complete they will bring them back if they haven't been fined.

So it's gone from: 'man, we're really gonna screw our userbase!' to: 'Eh, we'll let them get lubed up for a bit THEN take it to them' how very considerate of them.

Unlikely. The fake-currency was removed a short time after a conference call with Bob Iger, Disney CEO. Only Battlefront’s currency was removed, not all of Dice’s games. This means only one thing -> pressure from Disney caused EA to remove Battlefront’s currency. This isn’t about any pending court cases. Most likely, Iger was pissed about the negative Star Wars press while Disney is trying to promote The Last Jedi. They’ve spent millions advertising TLJ and all the Star Wars press is being dominated by this loot box controversy. EA probably then volunteered to remove the currency until after TLJ was well into its theater run.

And people are celebrating like the good sheep they are. One week and this crap will return. Idgaf about western AAA gaming so as long as this lootbox and microtransaction trash doesn't make its way into Indies and Japanese games, I'm good.

They are just temporarily removing it, make their profit and make sure everyone is past the refund window, then they'll turn it back on :D.
Console bug testing has been outsourced to gamers now. For $60 you too can become a game tester.

if they just went cosmetic to begin with they could of avoided this mess, call blizzard what you want but atleast they are intouch with player sentiments

You know I feel like that is a fair compromise that the gaming community should be discussing more.

Ok publishers, you can put microtransaction and loot boxes in because I know how much money you can make off whales who drop hundreds of dollars. But you damn well better make sure they are cosmetic only and do not give a competitive edge. And all dlc should be free and funded by the profits off of the loot boxes. Everyone wins! Pretty much do what overwatch does. It's not rocket science.

It sounds more reasonable of a goal than demanding multimillion dollar corporations with shareholders to please to give up a lucrative income channel cold turkey. Our combined voice is loud, but there is a limit.
