Probably just broken or being revamped or refreshed. The entire point of a multiplayer game is the microtransactions, so no way in hell they are getting rid of them.

That's not the entire point of a multiplayer game...

Yes... yes it is. There is no value in maintaining servers and running costs if they aren't making money from it. All multiplayer games since 2003 have had microtransactions. And still do.

I don't know which planet you've been on or which games you've been restricted to, but "All multiplayer games since 2003 have had microtransactions" is an objectively and undeniably false statement...

I'd bet my entire life savings that EA have done this just to try stop people from refunding the game for a while.

The changes are temporary, the bulls*** will be back in a week or 2

Be confident that you wont be wrong. EA always finds a way. Always.

Even if loot boxes come back after TLJ premiers then atleast people will have had the chance to level up, so they won't be entirely at the mercy of people who buy in.

They'll likely come back and be more cosmetic in nature. It sounds like Disney put pressure on EA to change it up.

And by the way....No, you do not have to participate in microtransactions to compete. It's not nearly as bad as what some say.

You have a source for Disney pulling rank, or is this a personal "gut feeling"?
If you don't like what a gaming company is trying to force upon you and the market, don't buy that company's games.
Cruel DRM can only flourish if you let it.

Most likely, Iger was pissed about the negative Star Wars press while Disney is trying to promote The Last Jedi.

This is pure speculation, not fact.
Though I suppose that answers my question.

Personally, I doubt Disney pulled the licensing leash on EA, since the latter has gotten caught pulling absolutely stupid s*** every other year for quite some time now, and done the same Mea Culpa song and dance each time before.

It's going to come back in full force (no pun intended) in the future.

Nah, they just took a strategic retreat so they can plan some other dastardly deed. The company is greedy and they're not gonna let their clientele stop that, especially when some of the clientele are stupid enough to defend that s***.
