When i first installed it i thought it would just be a thing for Valve games kinda like how the Battle.net client only has Blizzard games.

Never thought it was going to be the giant thing it is now.

This year there have been more Steam games released than in the years of 2005-2015 combined.

Not really. It was just annoying that I had to download a third-party program to play CS 1.6 at the time.

Not really. I have a day 1 account and my first purchase was 5 years later in 2008 (when it started to become obvious it was getting 2big2fail)

it was ugly and everyone hated it.

I didn't hate it... I didn't love it either. I just thought of it as a program to deliver any patches. It was an ugly "army tank green" for a few years too...

Ah, the classic gif. It basically did this to me on Christmas Day 2004. I didn't get to play Half-Life 2 until late at night.

I absolutely hated it, so definitely no.

I hated it.
I bad mouthed it for years right here on this forum.

I was wrong.

It's had it's ups and downs, but I can't imagine gaming without it now.

Nope, not at all!

But then I didn't know a thing about Steam until years after it had become a clearinghouse for asset rooster flippers and two-bit hacks crapping out 8-bit narwhal nuggets.

That’s exactly how I felt at the time. Now I’ve had Steam for 14 damn years. Only level 10 though.
