Haven't played Origins but Shadow of war got repetitive fast. There's no point to having an army of orcs when your death or survival alone determines if you win the battle.

lol you sound mad at the game because you're bad at it

Since when did the presence of a lootbox negate an entire game?

When people started to realise the manipulative casino psychology seeping into games was not acceptable.

Adding a freemium model to a full priced retail game is terrible. What gets me most is some publishers have boasted their microtransactions return them *just so much money*...and yet they still demand that drop-in-the-ocean $60 retail price as well. Well, I say $60, it's not for things like Shadow or War or AC Origins, is it? That gets you the shell of the game. You need to spend about $100 to get the best edition, not to mention the season pass as well.

It's been proven since the launch of both games that you can complete it just fine without spending any additional money. So you still haven't answered my question. How does lootboxes negate the entire game? It doesn't. Because the entire game is accessible to you. The lootbox is just a gambling function and ethnically it's questionable but be that as it may, the full game remains unchanged & available to you in full.

Well of course you can. Doesn't mean it's not grindy as hell. Just because you don't have to buy them doesn't mean the game's not designed with them in mind, nor that the game won't keep giving you nudges towards the store.

See, this is why it's so insideous. Not because it's blatently smacking you in the head with loot boxes, but because it just subtly nudges you to look and maybe think about spending the odd coin here and there to get you hooked.

The game is built around the idea of having those things in, more often than not. I hear AC is a lot less of a faff than Shadow of War is on that regard so...kudos, I guess? But even so I'd rather avoid both regardless.

I'm just being a consumer activist, I guess. Not everyone has to be, nor do I look down on anyone for not doing so. You do you and all that.

The originals were grindy as hell. What's your point?

I could care less about being a consumer activist. I'm a gamer. I don't ever and never did buy into stupid s*** like lootboxes and exploitative DLC. The people who bought into them are responsible for what we have today but why should I miss out on some good games b/c other people made poor decisions?

I would argue buying a game with those features in it has made you part of those poor decisions. It's very likely a publisher will assume every sale is okay with those features.

That's fine and all but the expression is "I couldn't care less". Otherwise you're indicating that you do care.
