chromesearch.win

Basically hijacked my searchbar. Not sure how to disable it. Can't find it anywhere on my computer. Looked through programs and task manager. Suggestions?

Booting in safe mode + Malwarebytes has always worked for me.

^^^This is the best option I can think of other than wiping and reinstalling Windows. I haven't used Malwarebytes recently, but it's usually been pretty good at finding stuff when in safe mode.

It's likely named something that looks legit. The last virus I saw labeled itself as language packs for Foxit Reader, for example.

Still one of the best malware removal software on the market, and it's free too.

Download the free trial of the premium version when you do that. It has a few extra little features to help make sure it's gone. I also recommend and oldie but good still SpyBotSearchAndDestroy run.

1. Watch what you download some programs have hidden installers, This is just a search engine type thing made from China to track what you search.

2. Try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZ3-bdDV2Tc

3. If that does not work download malwarebytes

4. if that did not take care of it you have to manually take care of it. Meaning you have to go into Regedit and search for chromesearch.win and what ever comes up in the address bar like popps.com or what ever it says cause those are associated with that .win search.

I think a System Restore Point can get rid of this type of malware.
Relax, it's just a game.

Depends on the type if they were clever they would have deleted the Restore Point and even if you manage to restore it there might be a rewrite program to put it back in.
