Have a 250gb Samsung 850 Evo SSD should I download the Magician Software for it? I did not the first time seemed to work fine.

Don't need it? Don't install it.

It's not needed at all, generally you'd install that when diagnosing a problem for a RMA or are planning on using the RAPID mode for some reason; I don't suggest that unless you really need faster read/writes at the compromise of the possibility of losing files

Mmm in the process as we speak.... I use to hate starting over but now it’s like having a new car.... all the stuff you were lazy about goes away. Playing my Switch while it updates.

I've got the samsung magician software and I've never had any problem with losing files even before they patched the Firmware on the first batch of 840EVO's.

The samsung magician software is for diagnosing problems, updating the firmware, doing "optimizations" if you're on windows 7 (since it's handled automatically at windows 8 and up)... it also allows you to set "over provisioning" which is basically setting aside 10% of your drive space as a buffer for better wear leveling which extends the life of the drive.

isnt that only with rapid mode? cause rapid mode just puts a big chunk of it on ram and i could see where there might be a failure somewhere if the power just kicks out all of a sudden in the middle of a transfer. i dont know
I cant afford a good vacation, so i'm just going to drink until i dont know where i am.
