Microsoft keeps making Windows 10 feel like an Apple product.

I am praying.

May Linux support all hardware and may all games go to Linux.

Please.

The problem is that keeping pace with modern hardware requires $$$. Or a bunch of people running their lives into the ground to do something fulltime with overtime for free to stick it to MS.

You got that backwards, the it's the hardware makers who are responsible for supporting their products.

The people in this topic reminds me of that old joke.

Man walks into the doctor's office and says "doc, it hurts when I do this (he raises his arm)" The doctor says "so don't do that..."

Great advice if you're a vaudeville comedian.

I don't shut everything down when I shut the computer down either... I don't leave so much open that it would be a pain but I don't really want it starting back up when I'm booting back up again. That's a feature I don't need.

I find it weird that there are people that actually manually close every program before shut-down. Nobody I've ever known does this, or would need to - when you click "shut-down", Windows automatically closes all open programs for you, so why do it manually? Seems like a silly thing to defend. I can see Microsoft's rationale, what with picking up where you left off, but this is something you should have to opt into, it shouldn't be the default behavior.

Not necessarily on free operating systems though.

1. most of us don't have a ton of extraneous s*** open in the first place so it's trivial to close what is there.
2. Windows shuts down faster if everything is already closed
3. some of us are old school and never lost the habit for making absolutely sure our work was properly saved and shut down lest we find it corrupted next boot.
When nothing remains everything becomes possible.

God, I'm not touching Windows 10 for as long as I f***ing can. The ridiculous amount of things I'll have to find workarounds is insane and growing every day.

This sounds like something that would create a lot of ridiculous issues, too. What the hell is an app that the computer will think to reboot it? What will it ignore? There's tons of s*** that gets stuck in the background. Now I can't even count on a restart to refresh my computer?

What the f***.

This. I can’t believe that anyone with any sort of computer training wouldn’t close their programs. That’s like day one s***. What are they teaching kids now? I mean, what all do you guys have open anyway?
