what all do you guys have open anyway?

I'll usually close web browsers (though not always) but sometimes steam is still open when I go to shut down.... and there's a handful of stuff in the system tray that's also running that will sometimes cause windows to tell me "this is taking too damn long to shut down thanks to this pokey f***er right here" and then I click the "kill it with extreme prejudice" button and then windows shuts down.

But I don't really have a ton of s*** running when I shut down usually. At most I've seen windows complain about 5 programs taking too long. Usually though by the time I see the "these 5 programs are taking too long" it shuts down like an instant later so it's not that big of a deal.

having options, is better than not. a 1 size fits all mentality when it comes down to customization of your OS is just plain stupid.

God, I'm not touching Windows 10 for as long as I f***ing can. The ridiculous amount of things I'll have to find workarounds is insane and growing every day.

This sounds like something that would create a lot of ridiculous issues, too. What the hell is an app that the computer will think to reboot it? What will it ignore? There's tons of s*** that gets stuck in the background. Now I can't even count on a restart to refresh my computer?

What the f***.

Ryzen literally won't work on Windows 7.
You have to install Windows 7 on a non-Ryzen setup, install drivers to make it work with Ryzen, then move the boot drive from the non-Ryzen system to the Ryzen system.

So if you want to upgrade to Ryzen, probably not going to go Windows 7.

Even on the Intel side it's getting kind of difficult to do this as well.
Not to mention that Microsoft is ending Windows 7 support.

Microsoft ending windows 7 support is about as scary as them continuing Windows 10 support

The Creeturz Update basically bricks my computer and forces me to restore to before the update. It's just like Win8.1, it offers nothing useful and breaks a ton of stuff. I had zero problems with Win10 until this, and bricking my computer is kind of a biggie.

Why would I when shutting down closes everything anyway? Why take an unnecessary extra step?

Because it takes all of a second and would eliminate your "problem" entirely

It takes more than a second, and adds an additional 20+ steps to the shutdown process. I shouldn't have to manually shut down every single program that I have running on my computer before shutting it down when last month all I had to do was click one button.

Man the egocentrism in this topic hurts my head. "I don't use many things at once so no one should!"

Then there is the comment that Windows shuts down faster if programs are closed. I can almost guarantee it shuts down a dozen or more Windows faster than a human would.

You'd be wrong. Especially if we're talking about something like Steam that causes a delay

What I find annoying they should work on making NVME drives more efficient when it comes to loading many things at once. These are fast as DDR3 on ramdrive. I expect things to load instantly.

I have two 1TB Samsung 960 PRO for everything.

Anyway yeah it does get annoying not allowing the users for more customization. It shouldn't cost more money to add the options you wanted. There is handful of options I usually use from 98 to Windows 7.

At least it's not like Android they charge you to allow youtube run as background and cripple Firefox performance which I use for youtube to run as background.
