I finished the first game enjoyed it. I am playing BioShock 2 right now and I'm enjoying that as well. Infinite I hear mix responses on it being great or bad. How different is Infinite compared to the first 2 games?

I view the series like this.

B1: best atmosphere
B2: best gameplay
B3: best narrative

The main difference is that the character you control is actually a character and not a mute avatar for you. He has a personality and that rubs some fans the wrong way.

I think it's a great game if you take it on it's own. Course everyone else will say "its not bioshock under the water, worst game ever". Really? compared all the other s*** nowadays?

It's a great game, so yes.

It's a flawed game, so don't expect anything perfect, as some people seem to believe. The gameplay suffered from consolitis (two weapon limit and simplified maps to explore), and the story is a bit meh, specially near the end. But the narrative is amazing and the game is VERY fun to play, specially if you set the game to a higher difficulty.

The game has a linear progression, just like Bioshock 1, but since the game is faster paced, it feels even more linear at times. Doesn't bother me, but it's important to mention.

It has a different feel to it. I honestly didn't play the first two, so I can't offer any opinion on that (nor bias), but just as a game by itself, I liked Infinite fair enough. The gameplay was mostly fun, though nothing stellar. I think the story is overrated and tried too hard, but then I rarely ever look to the story to be compelling in a shooter. For as often as you can find it on sale, I say it's definitely worth a look.

I don't think that Booker is the main reason people disliked the game. In fact, this is the first time I'm even seeing it cited as a reason at all.

We saw different reactions at launch then because that's one of the main things I saw harped on. That, the racism angle from triggered people and the combat.
