This is the most difficult RTS to learn in the history of the universe

I just don't even know what to do. I get smoked by everyone, even the AI sometimes.

I haven't played an RTS really since Warcraft III and then I wasn't that great but I won about half my games.

Now I just get raped.
The Phazon you know and trust since 2004

War3 is entirely different from SC2. They rebalance SC2 like they have an undiagnosed anxiety disorder these days. It was OK during WoL and HotS, but LotV has been "s*** s*** s***". It's gotten out of hand. I wouldn't waste your time worrying about it unless you plan on entering tourneys at the bare minimum.

They designed SC2 for esports APM monkeys so you basically just have to practice with the shortcuts and interface constantly until you can play faster and execute a strategy/build with fewer delays and mistakes.

Sc2 is an incredibly hard game to play. You have to spend a lot of time with the game.

It is why I quit the game.

I was at least Platinum 1v1 until LotV. It changed everything. They made the game a lot faster, threw out everything about prior build orders and comps. It was too much of an overhaul, plus there's unit overload on top of it now. Then they started the hyperactive balance updates to show the dwindling fanbase they were still paying attention, look how much we care, please don't leave. Which just made it worse.

Heroes of the Storm went the same way. I think Blizzard knows they need to trim, and people are desperately trying to prove the value of their positions for when those cuts start happening. By hyperactively doing things to bloat workload so they have more weight to point at pulling when those assessments begin.

If MP was WoL with adjustments made here and there to get it perfect before leaving it as RTS chess, golden. But they design on a pendulum because that's how you ensure job security. Plus it sells skins now. Game is right f***ed.

Occasionally I just play against AI on easy now.

I quit playing for 2 years not long after launch because of playing a match vs AI with few of my asian friends. They had cities that would've taken me 30 minutes to build in about 5 minutes. 2 of them already taking on hard AI within minutes, meanwhile I'm like "okay time to build my first barracks" 😢

I'll never git gud at that.

It's more about learning the learning curve. No games aren't too much difficult if you understand the game model.

PC gamers in general, prefer to use the term skill rather than using the proper term which is learning curve & it's misleading. You end up with lack of documentation & never point out the obvious.

A lot of it is practice. You gotta know the strats people use, matchups, what counters what, study the game. No competitive game worth it's salt is easy and they all share the same trait of being time consuming. It will literally be the only game you play.
