I bought corsair vengeance 16gb 3000mhz for $90 back in 2016.. I didn't really care about price but I just noticed that similar ram is going for like $200 these days. What happened? Will price drop back to normal anytime soon? Price is more than a double.

Desktop RAM shortages due to major manufacturers shifting to producing smartphone RAM. Supposedly prices should start dropping next year since companies are either opening new production facilities or shifting back towards desktop RAM or something

I know the feeling.

I'm trying to plan a new build and I'm just hating the RAM prices right now. If only I were smart and bought them in bulk when they were cheap. :(

Cost me $160, so have they gone up $40? I'm not sure if the prices are ever going to go down, just plateau.

I think it's reasonable for prices to come back down. RAM was really expensive a few years ago after a factory (I think it was Hynix) caught on fire, and prices came back down steadily afterward.

Like California, rained like hell last year, then a bunch of fires, although that's down south which didn't get that much rain.
