i never really watch long youtube videos, but theirs a 30 minute long video that i want to.....HAVE TO watch, and ive noticed that with any video over say 10 minutes in length youtube will only buffer a few seconds ahead, which makes the video stop playing to buffer every minute.

and on top of this youtube will not buffer while the video is paused.

i looked around google for an hour or so and found that the problem is with dash playback, and every way i can find to disable dash playback is through an extension, and those extensions are no longer supported/broken in chrome.

what can i do besides finding another browser?

There's various programs (or websites), which can download the entire video. You can then watch the whole thing whenever.
This has been another (probably) uselessly informative post, by me. Booyah!

Yeah, just Google 'Youtube to MP3' or something.

i knew this, and this is ultimately what i have done.

but is their seriously no way to disable dash playback in youtube?

it seems like a really stupid "feature" whats its purpose? all i can see it doing is ruining hd videos of subtantial length.

It saves Youtube bandwidth, it saves youtube processing power - which lowers electric costs, it makes downloading the video just slightly harder which in turn curbs the vast majority of casual pirating of videos.

then couldnt they just put a hard limit on the video length instead of allowing long videos that cant really be watched?

Maybe try a different browser? I've never had issues with longer Youtube videos.

If your having problems watching longer youtubes try lowering the video quality; it's not YouTube's fault that you don't have enough bandwidth and/or your ISP is throttling and slowing down the connection from youtube.
