I see good recomendations but i actually found and amazing game: The uncertain: episode 1. There is a demo on steam btw.

That was exactly what i was looking for. Sadly some fans whined and now the devs are changing the camera. lol.

You point and click and you can also move the character with a controller stick. That is how these games should evolve. No need to be stuck on 1990 anymore. It's all about having options.

It would be nice if steam added more control tags so you don't spend more time looking for games like this.

So...pointing and clicking on things is considered ancient game design to you or something? What do you call the entire simulation genre then?

Wait, what? I heard about the Netflix thing but how does the music thing work? You get partial songs or what? - Fade2Scrub420

In The Uncertain you can point and click all the time but you can also use the controller sticks to move the character and investigate. You choose your control method. I think The Longest Journey is like that too.

i don't think the TLJ you're thinking of is the same TLJ that everyone else(who knows their adventures at least) are thinking of.

as a reference this is the original TLJ:

with no controller support.

You said:
they have been called this for decades ... literally everyone calls them that

Wikipedia does not call them that. Neither did their developers, or magazines, or anyone who actually played real graphic adventures and not just flash games on Kongregate. Therefore, everyone literally does not call them that.

And what's that Google search supposed to prove? The second result from that page is this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_and_click

...and if you read the article, you'll notice it isn't talking about computer adventure games.

It's the second one, it's called Dreamfall: the longest journey.
