Most higher end monitors are 144 Hz now, but I see a handful at 240 Hz. I can't see many reason why that would needed for gaming or other PC use, but curious what everyone's thoughts are here. Is the 240 Hz worth it? Or is 144 more than sufficient?

Only if your GPU can push it that high you will notice it, but only if you compare a 144hz to a 240hz.

You will just be able to jerk your mouse around faster without it being laggy or blurry.

Yes there is a difference but unless you have a 1080ti that can push the fps that high it's not worth it.

I don't think 240Hz would be suitable for gaming at the moment, since I'd imagine reaching framerates that high with modern games would be extremely difficult, even with the best hardware, and would only be possible if a lot of details were sacrificed.

I'd recommend going for a 144Hz monitor at most. 120Hz is fine too.

120fps is the sweet spot but if you can go for 144fps.

Go for 144.
Like others said here, you won't be getting 240 on enough games to make it matter.

Also, as far as I know, 240hz would limit you to 1080p, and overall, you'd get a better experience (at roughly the same hardware requirements) with 1440p@120/144 than 1080p@240. In my personal opinion at least,.
I used to have a good signature, then I got modded for it.
Now I shall try to think of something edgier to put here.

240 is great if you play many competitive games. It really helps with flicks and quick movements. 144 is also good too if you want to go to a higher resolution

It isn't just about input delay. Higher refresh = less eye strain. If 240hz were reasonably priced or I was so f***ing rich I didn't care about giving money away (though even if I were I don't think I'd pay for things that were so overpriced), I would have one for the health benefits alone.

If you're a competitive gamer than 240hz is EASILY feasable... LoL, Overwatch, CSGO, Starcraft 2, Battlefield 4 etc. etc. a 1080ti will run any of those games @ 240hz 1440p. I have a 165hz and I constantly hit 165fps @ 1440p on a 1080.
