Advance.

But that's FFT Advance, not FFT. The OP is clearly asking about the PS1 and PSP versions of FFT, which is a different game, not just a different version.

I know. Can't a man have a little fun? :P

The only version I played was War of the Lions. Really didn't care for it. The anime cutscenes were ugly and boring. And it was hard to take the Shakespeare acting seriously, as it felt I was watching a high school play. Tacked on extra characters that did nothing for the game like Luso and Balthier, and a couple of new jobs that really aren't worth all your time and effort.

Huh, maybe those reasons alone make the original better. But keep in mind, I don't care for this game in general, so what I say may mean very little.

I know you didn't ask but... here are my favorite FFT games, in order of preference:

1. Final Fantasy Tactics A2 Grimoire of the Rift
2. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
3. Final Fantasy Tactics War of the lions

I listed Advance above WOTL but in all honestly they are kinda equal in my opinion. I liked the story of Advance more though & it was my first FFT game so...

If you haven't tried the DS game, you should definitely look into it blue_man.

War of the Lions is the best, but only if your PSP can run patches like the one that fixes the slowdown. And if you can run such patches, you can also give your PSP a soft-reset in any game, which is the real deal-breaker with this game. You can soft reset in the PS1 version but not the PSP version.

The PS1 version also has the best music, and while I don't care for the translation anymore, it at least has those random spell quotes that the English PSP version removed.

Then there's also the mobile versions of the game which somehow don't feel quite right either with everything sped up.

Makes me just want to hunt the Japanese PS1 version on disc and be done with it.

The PS1 version also has the best music

How? Are the tracks not the same?

PS1 has a richer, fuller sound. Makes the PSP version sound like an SNES game.

How about headphones? If I play FFT PS1 on my PSP and then switch to the PSP version, will I notice a difference in sound quality?

Absolutely. Heck, you can just listen to the original soundtrack on YouTube. Try this:

I actually did, and compared one of these tracks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqKcvq0XxNs

To this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQRw28JhyKY

The corresponding tracks sound exactly the same. You're making a fuss over an issue that does not exist.

You're telling me I'm wrong and you haven't even played the PS1 version?

I'm not the only one who noticed the tremendous drop in sound quality in the PSP remake. And just because the video you linked to has "War of the Lions" in the title doesn't mean it's the PSP version.

I'll make a damn comparison video myself if I have to.
