I've played through AS up until maybe about halfway through back when it came out, and never thought it was as bad as everyone said it was. I think I stopped at a forest maze or a cavern maze and couldn't find my way out. In any case is CGS a true sequel to AS or what? Was thinking of purchasing it

Same universe is just about the connection you can draw. Nothing about it can be considered sequel-y.
Please.

Yeah. Nothing all too connected from what I play. I unfortunately got bored with the game and sold it.

Fully agree that Astonishia Story was an OK game.

There's a character in Crimson Gem Saga that's revealed to be a character from AS at the end of the game.
Sadly, CGS is a horrible game, so it's not worth it. And it ends on a cliffhanger because the publishers were too ambitious.

If you paid attention to both games, it's not just "one character" that makes a comeback to CGS. The characters have different names. Regardless, they're nothing more special than easter eggs, believe me.
Please.

If that's true, you should write an explanation and cover it with the spoiler tags. Like this.

Why should I, or anyone, do such a completely pointless thing? I've already "explained" what needed to be explained: they're more or less "reused" characters -- in the same vein as Toad reappearing in different Mario games. In case you missed my first post--the first reply--in the topic, the way the stories in both games have been written only implies they live in the same universe.

There's nothing to spoil here.

edit: and if such a tease, by any chance, increases anyone's interest in playing the game, then I might as well not give a lick of spoilers. I'm probably one of the few who enjoyed the game despite all the flaws that people have claimed before I touched it. I still think to this day that it's underappreciated.
Please.
