After you leave the little pod and get out?
Also, is there a way to kill the scientist dude in charge of it all?

after you leave the pod they are dead.

might be able to kill Baum if you never enter the pod with a high computer skill I recall hacking and finding his rooms password.... but it was too late at that point
Why would it get a second season when it's about to end here? >_> -V exe1 on tower of druaga season 1.

You free them by killing them, using the chinese army simulation. Doesn't get better than that and no.

I didn't try it, but there is a switch in the abandoned house. The old lady tells you this, as she is the only normal one there.

Dr. Braun explains that they are all kept alive by the pods. They have been there for 200 years, so if you opened the pods, they would pretty much instantly decay. You free them by killing them - they will never leave otherwise.

You can see Dr. Braun's pod in the Overseer's office. Not sure if you can deactivate it or anything though.
